Perception of teachers on readers’ theatre and reading comprehension: Prospects for curriculum planning

چکیده

Reading has always been a challenging task especially for struggling learners of English as second language (ESL). Readers' theatre used class instruction approach to enable become innovative and active participants in the reading class. During instruction, teachers use multiple strategies such modeling accuracy, main idea group reading, adapting scripts, discussion. Using qualitative approach, this study aimed at investigating perception secondary school on impact readers' improvement comprehension ESL. Data was collected using interviews from eight schools Kisumu County, Kenya, lessons were also observed. Purposive sampling select teachers. The findings reported verbatim accordance with themes study. revealed that activities enabled be involved actively in-class tasks which resulted enhanced comprehension. Furthermore, built confidence due reading. will assist plan appropriate scaffold build among learners. suggests further studies implementing writing skills.
